SUMMERS EDGE BANDCAMP

Summers Edge is about a moment of love and memory at the end of summer. I aimed to evoke an image. A story of symmetry, in moments of life.

We are at an end of an era, returning to a place where an “end of an era” happened earlier in life. Looking back in time at the end of an era as a new moment is ending for us right now...

Something beautiful, in summer that took place on those grounds. I have chosen a moment of summer, perhaps a camp, a simple time in love. While on the precipice of a new journey. I have also tried to thread a social level to this, while maintaining intimacy as primary. its a love song and a gentle sendoff. Hopeful, sad ballad.

And so, I have been toying with imagery about summer. Summer camp. Summer romance. Summer films. Summer lost. Summer Lust.

As well as all this, playing with images of climate devastation of climate tragedy. A reflection of the endless summer of climate change.

But all of that is just suggestive. The actual song is about a moment. A moment quickly fading, which reminds us of another moment that faded.

This memory gives us breathing room to look on ourselves and our unavoidable moment of change with compassion.

lyrics

Now the summer's edge is bright
and there is no time for us all
there's no time here for us all

Now the summer's edge is bright
and there is no room for us all
there's no room here for us all

Thoughts of my own yesterdays make me say that
far be it from me to blow out
the candles of your dreams
the smoke of your needs
and that which you seem to see

Now the summer's edge is here
and there is no time for us all
there's no time here for us all

And the summer's edge is bright
and there is no way to stand tall
as the sun become the fall

Thoughts of my own yesterdays make me say that
far be it from me to blow out
the candles of your dreams
the smoke of your needs
and that which you seem to see

And now the summer's edge is here
and there is no room for us all
there's no more here for us all
